Visitors are invited to explore fossils, geology, earthquakes and archaeology with a variety of activities. There will be a variety of activities in the picnic area behind the Interpretive Center. Activities will include;
- Geology- Dig in our refreshed fossil and mineral collecting piles sponsored by IMI, Inc.
- Explore the fossil beds with guided hikes; build an egg carton geology collection, and start a mineral collection. Children can make take-home crafts with a geological and archaeological theme.
- New this year! Experience an earthquake in the “Quake Cottage” of the Indiana Geological Survey.
- Archaelogy- find “artifacts” in a mock dig, compare primitive tools with what we use today. Touch and learn about artifacts thousands of years old. There will be on-going demonstrations of flint knapping ( how arrow and spear points were made).
- Get your unknown artifacts, rocks and fossils identified by experts.
- Lunch will be available from Boy Scout Troop 1.
- Admission is $2 per car and does not include admission to Interpretive Center exhibits
- This is our 21st year for celebrating the past.
