Dr. Thomas Owen, Professor of Libraries at the University of Louisville, joined Falls of the Ohio Foundation Members and Friends on November 8, for a special evening presentation entitled,
“The Falls of the Ohio: Magnet or Barrier.”
Dr. Owens’ light-hearted chronicle of the many instances of cooperation and differences in our region’s history was absorbing and fascinating. From the Native Americans who lived in the area, to the arrival of Daniel Boone and George Rogers Clark, to the building of the new Ohio River bridges in recent years, the presentation was filled with unexpected and entertaining stories. The vision he shared for continued cooperation among the communities surrounding the Falls of the Ohio is exciting and hopeful. We are delighted that Dr. Owen shared his knowledge and passion for our region’s history with our members and friends.
