The Troost Mineral Collection and its Significance

The Troost mineral collection is the second oldest in the U.S. and has been housed in Louisville since the 1870s – soon moving to the Indiana State Museum. Ron Yates, who researched Gerard Troost, will speak on this geologist’s adventurous life in America from 1810 to 1850 and the significance of the collection. It contains many of the earliest known mineral samples from America’s early years.
