Dr. James E. and Barbara M. Conkin were geologists in Louisville for more than 60 years. Over that time, they accumulated over a thousand books and journals in all aspects of geology, fossils, biology, natural history, biographies, history of science, philosophy, religion, and more. Some geological publications are in French, German, Russian, Mandarin, etc. The Conkin family is working with the Falls of the Ohio State Park and its Foundation to have a book sale in the Interpretive Center rotunda the weekend of February 1 and 2. Proceeds from the sale will go to the park and Foundation.

On Saturday, a portion of the collection will sold via silent auction and others will be offered at $1 for hardback and 50 cents for paperback. Books will be displayed beginning at 9 AM with a silent auction running every 15 minutes beginning at 9:30 for each row of tables. The sale will continue until the library is sold, or 4 PM. Books not sold will be available for the 50 cents to $1 on Sunday. Bring your own book bags or boxes.

While the book sale entry is free, regular admission applies for the exhibit gallery and movies ($9 age 12 and up, $7 age 5 to 11 and under 5 free). $2 pay-to-park also applies.
