History at the Falls

The Falls of the Ohio is more than a geological wonder, it is a place the served as a focal point in history. George Rogers Clark founded Louisville and Clarksville, defended the Northwest Territory from the British. It’s the place that Meriwether Lewis met William Clark to start the famous expedition. It was the first locks and dam on the Ohio River, one of the first bridges to span the river. It is people and engineering marvels. Long-time volunteer Paul Olliges will lead class. Paul leads outer fossil bed hikes in September and October and has been studying the history at the Falls for year. This volunteer training class is open to the public with regular Interpretive Center admission.
