Foundation Members Event: Rose Island Tour at Charlestown State Park

Enjoy this historic tour in a forested setting surrounded by 14-mile Creek and the Ohio River. A popular destination from 1880 to 1937, little remains of the former summer resort site today. Follow along as our interpreters share stories of the past. The Rose Island trail is .9 mile in length, but the hill to and from is very steep. Transportation is available to and from Rose Island for those unable to walk the hill. Tour typically lasts 2 hours. Interpretive naturalist Jeremy Beavin has been giving guided tours here even before the official trail opened. You are sure to learn many interesting facts and stories about Fern Grove and Rose Island Amusement Park. Meet in the parking lot at the beginning of the trail.
