Upper fossil beds near Fisherman's Point
View of the Upper Fossil Beds

Outcrop of Upper Fossil Beds

As we explore the upper fossil beds (named the bryozoan - brachiopod layer because of the abundance of those types of ancient creatures) one can observe a great variety of fossils.

Although the fossils tend to be smaller, there are actually a greater diversity of species in this layer than on the coral beds.

The upper fossil beds are exposed most of the year (occasionally flooded in the spring).
