Directions to the State Park

(Interpretive Center, Fossil Beds, George Rogers Clark Home Site)

Louisville and Indiana railroad bridge marks the boundary of the state park

Passing under the Louisville and Indiana Railroad Bridge marks entry into the state park.

Construction of the bridges is finished. Tolls begin December 30, 2016.

It isn't necessary to use the toll bridge to reach the Falls on either side

of the Ohio River. The Clark Memorial Bridge is toll-free.


The Falls of the Ohio State Park is located at the end of West Riverside Drive, Clarksville, Indiana. From I-65 north (toward Indianapolis) take Exit 0 and follow the signs. From I-65 south (toward Louisville), take exit 1 and follow the signs. The quickest route is outlined below to Interpretive Center and George Rogers Clark home site and boat ramp are below.

I-65 from Louisville / Toward Indianapolis:

Take the first exit after crossing the Kennedy Bridge (Exit 0).

Turn left on Court Avenue at the bottom of the ramp.

Turn left on North Shore Dr.

Turn left at the stop sign onto Southern Indiana Ave.

Turn right at the stop sign on to Market St..

Veer right at the next stop sign.

Follow Riverside Drive to the Interpretive Center. Do not go over the levee!


I-65 from Indianapolis / Toward Louisville:**

Take Stansifer Avenue exit (Exit 1).

Turn right at traffic signal.

Turn left at stop sign onto Clark Blvd.

Turn right on Sherwood Avenue (across from Colgate Park).

Go to second stop sign,turn right onto Windbourne Ave.

Go over levee. Watch for pedestrian and bicycle traffic on the Ohio River Greenway path.

Sharp right turn (yield sign) will lead you to the Interpretive Center (Riverside Drive).

** Ohio River Greenway signs mark roads that lead to the park.


I-65 heading south (rush hour alternative):

Take Lewis and Clark Parkway exit  west (Exit 4).

Follow Lewis and Park Parkway (Hwy 131) to Hwy 62 (Brown's Station Way) interchange.

Be in left lane after last traffic signal.

Left turn on entry ramp to Hwy 62 east (not New Albany).

Turn right at Randolph Ave. (first traffic light on 62).**

Turn right at stop sign (Harrison Ave.)

Make immediate left on Clark Blvd. (Save-A-Step market at corner).

Turn right on Sherwood Avenue. Go over levee.

Sharp right turn at base of the levee (yield sign) will lead you to the interpretive Center (Riverside Drive).

Clark Bridge north:

Take a left at the traffic light at the end of the bridge. (Use the right left-turn lane.)

Turn left onto Missouri Avenue.

Turn right at the next stop sign onto. Market St.

Veer right onto Riverside Drive, go to the Interpretive Center. Do not go over the levee!

Directions to the George Rogers Clark Home Site and Boat Ramp:

There are directional signs from the Interpretive Center and from the intersection of Stansifer Ave. and Clark Blvd. GPS users, enter -1102 West Harrison Avenue.

I-65 (North or South):

Take Stansifer Avenue exit.

Head west to Clark Blvd. and turn right at stop sign.

Go to next stop sign and turn left onto Harrison Avenue.

Go ~1 mile, when you go down the hill, the parking lot for the home site and boat ramp is on your left.

Leaving the Falls to head north on I-65 (Indianapolis / Chicago):

Turn left on Windbourne Ave. and go over levee.

Turn left at stop sign - Sherwood Ave.

Turn left on Clark Blvd.

Turn right Stansifer Ave. at stop sign.

Turn left from turn lane under I-65 overpass.

Frontage road parallels I-65 and rejoins just past Eastern Blvd. interchange.

Alternative: Return to Court Avenue and turn left at traffic light on east side of I-65 overpass. Follow signs.
